A third of the experts advising the World Health Organisation about the swine flu pandemic had ties to drugs firms, it has emerged.
Five of the 15 specialists who sat on the emergency committee had received funding from pharmaceutical giants, or were linked to them through their research.
The revelation will prompt speculation that the 'pandemic' was wildly overestimated and largely fuelled by the drugs industry who stood to benefit from the panic.

Chris Shaw wasn’t always skeptical about vaccines. The neuroscientist at the University of British Columbia had his teenage son vaccinated with most of the recommended shots. But then he started studying some of the ingredients commonly found in vaccines.

What he discovered caused him to go cold turkey on all shots for his six-year-old daughter. And that includes the vaccine for the H1N1 flu.

“I am not convinced H1N1 is sufficiently hazardous to most people to risk the potential downside of the vaccine,” Shaw said over the phone from his office in the research pavilion at the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.

Shaw isn’t an easily dismissed vaccine conspiracy theorist. He is a leading expert on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease) and Parkinson’s disease. While investigating unusually high rates of ALS and other neurological disorders among veterans who have Gulf War syndrome, he found evidence that the cause may have been aluminum salt, an ingredient in the cocktail of vaccines given to soldiers before deployment.

Although aluminum salt isn’t present in the H1N1 vaccine, Shaw’s discovery made him concerned about other vaccines, including the swine-flu shot. He isn’t alone in his thoughts.

The recent unanimous 11-0 vote by the members of the Centers for Disease Control’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) favoring every American over the age of six months receive the flu influenza vaccine is one more attempt by our federal health officials to open up our bodies to the free market capitalism of pharmaceutical coffers. It is another step to mandate a vaccine across the nation, a policy that has many supporters in the pro-vaccine science community.

The vote raises an alarm about our federal government’s scientific integrity, and calls into question its true allegiance and purpose: to protect the health of American citizens or increase Big Pharma profits. If the recommendation were ever enforced, the US would be the only nation in the world with mandatory flu vaccination. ...

To put this into greater perspective, since the FDA relies on industry-funded clinical trials and subsequent data to approve vaccines and drugs, there also appeared in the news this month a critical finding from the German Institute for Quality and Efficacy in Health Care, published in the peer-reviewed journal Trials. The study investigated 90 approved drugs in the US (and let us make no mistake, vaccines are drugs! In fact, the flu vaccine is listed as a Category C drug; which means there are no adequate safety studies to determine whether flu vaccination adversely affects pregnant mothers and their fetuses.) and discovered that 60 percent of the 900 papers were unpublished and some were concealed from the federal regulatory agencies. Forty to sixty percent omitted clinical details or changed their final analysis. Among the pharmaceutical industry studies alone, 94 percent were unpublished, and 86 percent of the university studies sponsored by drug makers remained unpublished. ...

Canada’s Vaccination Risk Awareness Network (VRAN) website is a community of physicians, researchers and vaccine researchers and journalists reporting on vaccines’ flawed promises and pseudo-science. Last September, a large study by Canadian scientists Danuta Skowronski and Gaston De Serres threw Canada into an uproar with their findings showing people who had prior "seasonal flu" shots were much more likely to come down with newly appeared H1N1 (Swine) flu illness.

When the dust had settled every Provincial Health Department but one, New Brunswick, declared seasonal flu shots would not be given until perhaps January of the new year, with only the new H1N1 vaccine immediately rushed into service. As it turned out by January first new flu cases had sunk to essentially zero so the seasonal flu shot became a moot point, having little appeal.

All this was front page in newspapers across Canada, yet was completely ignored by the U.S. Health establishment and news media, illustrating the usual policy by officials at the the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to keep the American public in the dark. In other words just follow orders from CDC Generals, don't ask questions, and in the immortal words of NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman on national TV, "just take your damn flu shot."

The mass vaccination program for swine flu has come under fire from an infectious disease expert who says the risk of serious side effects was greater than any potential benefit for half the Australian population.

Writing in the latest issue of Australian Prescriber, Professor Peter Collignon, director of the Infectious Diseases Unit and Microbiology Department at The Canberra Hospital, said the Government's response to the virus was "inappropriate", fuelled by fears about its spread that were out of proportion to the real threat posed by the disease.

"Overall, swine flu has been associated with fewer deaths than seasonal influenza and is of low virulence," he wrote.

MORE than 60 WA [Western Australia] children may have had adverse reactions to the flu vaccine, the state's health department says, with one in critical condition.

WA Health Minister Kim Hames announced on Thursday that vaccinations for children under the age of five would be halted after a number of reactions to the three-strain vaccine, which includes swine flu.

Australia's chief medical officer Jim Bishop on Friday said health professionals nationwide should immediately stop immunising children under five with the vaccine, as a precaution.

WA Health Department chief health officer Dr Tarun Weeramanthri said a higher-than-expected number of reactions to the vaccine, which is offered free by the state government to children under five, had been reported.

The Princess Margaret children's hospital (PMH) had reported 44 children under 10 had presented with febrile convulsions, of which 23 related to the paediatric flu vaccine.

Since the H1N1 outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) appears to be distancing itself from the idea that it ever promoted the concept of an influenza pandemic as an inevitably disastrous event. Last May, the WHO Director-General declared that highly pathogenic avian influenza "H5N1 has conditioned the public to equate an influenza pandemic with very severe disease and high mortality. Such a disease pattern is by no means inevitable during a pandemic. On the contrary, it is exceptional." [1]

I disagree. It is public health organizations--not viruses--that have shaped the public's understanding of pandemic influenza.

In the BMJ last September, I documented how the WHO altered its longstanding definition of "influenza pandemic" a few weeks after the emergence of H1N1 [2]. The Organization deleted the phrase "enormous numbers of deaths and illness" from the definition. By the new definition, pandemics need not be severe.

Global health chiefs have finally admitted that they may have overreacted to the swine flu 'pandemic' - landing governments with millions of unused vaccines.

The World Health Organisation has conceded that it may have been guilty of failing to communicate 'uncertainties' about how virulent the new virus was.

Critics say the UN agency was too quick to designate the influenza a pandemic in June after it spread from Mexico.

Keiji Fukuda, its top influenza expert, yesterday admitted a six-phase system for declaring this was confusing and the bug was not actually as deadly as bird flu.

Reports that the WHO is appointing an ‘independent’ committee to investigate its own conduct in the H1N1 panic of 2009 has been tempered by the fact that one of the committee’s members, John Mackenzie, was in fact one of the advisors who urged the WHO to declare a pandemic in the first place. He also has ties to vaccine manufacturers, making him part of the very charge being investigated: that the WHO relied on advisors with a financial interest in declaring a pandemic regardless of the facts on the ground.

The Canadian sentinel study showed that receipt of TIV in the previous season (autumn 2008) appeared to increase the risk of pH1N1 illness by 1.03- to 2.74-fold, even after adjustment for comorbidities, age, and geography [4].

According to their 2008 IRS form 990 filed with the federal government, out of a total program budget of $7,041,750 they spent $8,239 on fellowships and grants for medical research. Their single biggest expense, accounting all by itself for most of their budget, was $5,804,273 paid to the public relations firm Cooney/Waters, which is the PR firm for Sanofi Pasteur, the biggest flu vacccine company.

The agenda for the news conference featuring all our health honchos says it is sponsored by “grants to NFID from CSL Biotherapies, Inc., Flu Vaccine Business Practices Initiative (c/o HIDA), GlaxoSmithKline, MedImmune, Merck and Co., Inc., Novartis Vaccines, Roche, sanofi pasteur and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.”
