Worldwide Estimates

According to WHO worldwide numbers: "About one in 160 children has an ASD(1)."
"It is estimated that worldwide about one in 160 children has an ASD. This estimate represents an average figure, and reported prevalence varies substantially across studies. Some well-controlled studies have, however, reported figures that are substantially higher. The prevalence of ASD in many low- and middle-income countries is unknown."

Autism Society quotes CDC, "About 1 percent of the world population has autism spectrum disorder. (CDC, 2014)"
With a worldwide population of 7.5 Billion, that means 75 Million ASD diagnosed adults. And quite possibly many more.

USA

According to the CDC
* About 1 in 44 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)... [2018 data]

* About 1 in 6 (17%) children aged 3–17 years were diagnosed with a developmental disability, as reported by parents, during a study period of 2009-2017. These included autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, blindness, and cerebral palsy, among others.

According to childhealthdata.org 1,725,297 children in the USA, "National Outcome Measure 17.3: Percent of children, ages 3 through 17, diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder"

According to CDC 2017 An estimated 5,437,988 (2.21%) adults in the United States have ASD.
[2016-2017 National Survey of Children's Health]

[1,725,297 children + 5,437,988 adults = Total 7,163,285 affected individuals in USA. About 2.17%.]
